CUMBERLAND, Md. — Trailing by eight runs with two innings to play Potomac State authored a staggering 21–14 comeback win Sunday afternoon over Allegany College at Steve Bazarnic Field. The comeback was fueled by clutch home runs, and an amazing 15-run eighth inning by PSC that fueled the comeback win.
Potomac State wasted no time igniting the afternoon. In the top of the first, Tate Musko crossed the plate after a bases loaded walk from Jaxon Drennen to open the scoring. Peyton Blue then hit the first of his two home runs—a towering grand slam that gave the Catamounts a quick 5–0 cushion.
Allegany answered in the bottom half, scratching across a run capitalizing on a defensive error by the Catamounts.
Blue stayed locked in during the third inning, launching his second homer of the day, a solo shot that pushed the lead to 6–1.
Allegany began to chip away in the third inning with a pair of runs, and a two-run double in the fourth suddenly made it a one-run contest. By the fifth, Allegany surged ahead, 7–6.
Allegany erupted for seven runs in the sixth inning, highlighted by a three-run blast from Jaden Wilson, stretching the lead to 14–6.
Taking over in relief, Hunter Krotzer delivered exactly what the Catamounts needed—not dominance, but stability. Over 3.1 innings, he stemmed the bleeding, limiting Allegany to just two runs (one earned) and allowing his offense to begin getting back into the game.
And then came the eighth inning.
It began modestly with three straight walks to open the inning. Braden Sloan was hit by a pitch to push across the first run of the inning. Three more consecutive walks pushed across three more runs making the score 14-10.
Then, with the bases still loaded, Jaxon Drennen delivered a grand slam to deep left field, tying the game at 14–14.
Callen Miller followed with a two-run blast of his own making the score 16-14.
Moments later, Seth Healy joined the home run parade, launching a two-run shot that extended the lead to 18-14.
PSC added three more runs highlighted by an RBI single from Drennen.
In all, Potomac State sent 21 batters to the plate and scored 15 runs, drew eight walks were hit by four pitches and hit three home runs completing one of the most remarkable innings in program history.
From there, it was Krotzer's game to finish. Calm and efficient, he closed the door over the final frames, securing the victory and earning the win in relief as the Catamounts.
Blue finished with two home runs and five RBIs. Drennen matched him with five RBIs of his own, punctuated by the game-altering grand slam.
Potomac State, now 26-12, will next host Garrett College at Golden Park on Wednesday for a single game beginning at 3:00 p.m.
