CUMBERLAND, Md. —Potomac State scored in every inning rolling past Allegany College of Maryland, 24–10, Tuesday afternoon at Steve Bazarnic field.
In the opening inning, Tate Musko ignited the afternoon, scoring on a passed ball before Callen Miller added a sacrifice fly and Jaxon Drennen raced home on a wild pitch to stake Potomac State to a 3–0 lead.
ACM answered quickly, however, as Duke Psoras and Alex Kennell launched back-to-back solo home runs, trimming the margin to 3–2.
The second inning brought more chaos. Musko and Seth Healy capitalized on another wild pitch sequence to extend the lead, but Psoras answered again with an RBI double, keeping ACM within striking distance at 5–3.
In the third, the tone shifted decisively. Peyton Blue stepped in and delivered the first thunderous blow—a three-run homer that plated Drennen and John Mallow, pushing the advantage to 8–3.
By the fourth inning, Lex Wescott took center stage. The third baseman ripped a two-run triple into the gap, scoring Musko and Braden Sloan, then later dashed home on a wild pitch, stretching the lead to 11–3.
The fifth inning became a showcase of offensive execution. Healy doubled home a run before Wescott struck again—this time a three-run double that cleared the bases. Moments later, Drennen added an RBI double of his own, capping a five-run inning and widening the gap to 16–4. ACM added a pair of runs with a two-run double from Dylan Frazier.
In the sixth, the Catamounts poured in seven runs, and at the center of it all was Drennen. After a sacrifice fly and bases-loaded walk added early damage, Drennen stepped in and delivered the knockout punch- a towering grand slam that emptied the bases. Blue followed with an RBI single, making the score 23-6.
ACM continued to battle, plating two runs in the bottom half on a Danny Defonte single.
Then in the seventh, another wild pitch allowed Musko to score before Psoras belted his second home run of the day—a two-run shot that provided the final scoring at 24–10.
Wescott led the way for PSC, finishing with three hits and five RBIs, including a triple and two doubles that consistently broke open innings. Drennen matched him swing for swing, going 4-for-5 with five RBIs, highlighted by the grand slam that defined the afternoon. Blue added his own fireworks with a home run and four RBIs, delivering damage in key moments and anchoring the surge.
On the mound, Potomac State pieced together the win with a three-arm effort. Jacob Stavrakis earned the victory, working four innings while allowing seven hits and four runs, striking out two and navigating early pressure that included a pair of home runs. Caden Johnson followed and absorbed the bulk of ACM's late push, surrendering six runs on five hits over two innings while issuing five walks and striking out two. Judd Messerly closed the door efficiently, tossing a clean final inning with no hits allowed, one walk, and one strikeout.
