Winchester, Va. – WVU Potomac State College Cross Country turned in impressive performances at the Hornet Harrier Invitational & Commonwealth Challenge on Saturday, with both the men's and women's teams securing top-three finishes against a competitive field at the historic Kernstown Battlefield course.
The Catamount women's cross country team claimed runner-up honors with 58 points, finishing behind DeSales University (18 points) and ahead of Hollins, Bluefield State, Christendom, and Bowie State. Freshman Teagan Huff paced Potomac State with a 4th-place finish in the 6k (26:55), followed closely by Cassidey Cumberledge in 6th (27:08). Strong supporting efforts came from Baylee Jarrett (11th, 28:33), Phoebe McCann (12th, 28:50), and Morgan Niland (25th, 32:47), sealing the Catamounts' second-place team standing
On the men's side, Potomac State finished third overall with 90 points in the 6k race, trailing Washington & Lee (15) and Hagerstown CC (67) but ahead of Christendom College, CCBC Catonsville, Bowie State, and Bluefield State. LJ Sealey led the Catamounts with a 12th-place finish (22:20), while Dylan Poston (14th, 22:44) and William Boddy (18th, 23:07) added key performances. Rounding out the scoring for Potomac State were Logan Hetrick (26th, 23:40) and Richard Hudson (27th, 24:05).
The Catamounts will return to action next weekend heading to Pitt-Greensburg as well as hosting the Alex Kile Memorial 5k.
