On May 14th the NJCAA released the bracket for the upcoming 2024 Division II Softball World Series.  The World Series for Division II returns to Tygar River Park in Spartanburg, SC, which is a familiar location for the Catamounts who traveled there last year for the 2023 World Series. This year, the Catamounts earned the #16 spot and will open up their World Series competition on Monday, May 20, 2024 against #17 seeded Macomb. The Macomb Monarchs recently won the Great Lakes District A Championship and punched their ticket to the World Series with a 31-13 record.  The winner of the Potomac State v Macomb game will go on to play the #1 seeded Park

The Catamounts enter the World Series with a 36-11 record and are coming off earning their 4th consecutive NJCAA Region 20 Championship.  Potomac State hold some impressive stats nationally in Division II, including the following highlights for both team and individual:

  • Potomac State College Team stats - 10th in the nation for homerunes (75), and 10th for slugging % (.644), 20th for runs scored (425), 21st for RBI (379), 17th for batting average (.378)
  • Chloe Greise - 9th in the nation for wins (21), 13th for strikeouts (191), 13th strikeouts per game (9.07)
  • Alexa Shoemaker - Returning All-American, 13th for RBIs (72)

The strength at the plate that the Catamounts bring is certainly a key part of their success and will be a big obstacle for any opponent to face at the World Series.
