Catamounts Advance to the Next Round of the Region 20 Tournament with Quarterfinal Sweep of Allegany

Keyser, W.Va. — Potomac State Softball powered its way into the NJCAA Region 20 Tournament semifinals with a decisive doubleheader sweep of Allegany College of Maryland in quarterfinal action. The Catamounts combined timely hitting with standout individual performances to secure the pair of victories on their home field, setting up a highly anticipated final four matchup later this week.

With the wins, Potomac State advances to face CCBC Catonsville in a rematch of the 2025 Region 20 Championship. The final four contest is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday, May 8, as part of the remainder of the tournament hosted May 8–10 in Keyser.


Game 1 — Potomac State 10, Allegany 6

The Catamounts used explosive offensive production to take control early and never looked back in a 10–6 win in Game 1.

Potomac State wasted no time getting on the board, plating two runs in the opening inning before breaking the game open with a three-run third. The momentum continued into the middle innings, highlighted by a dominant performance from Skyla Compton, who powered the offense with two home runs and a game-high six RBI.

Maddie Fields set the tone at the top of the lineup, going 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two stolen bases, consistently putting pressure on the defense. Adison Pritts added a multi-hit effort with two runs scored and an RBI, while Katelyn Cooper chipped in three hits and two RBI, including a key extra-base hit.

The Catamounts added insurance in the sixth inning with a four-run outburst, once again fueled by Compton's bat, stretching the lead to seven runs.

In the circle, Delaney Randolph went the distance, striking out six over seven innings to earn the win and keep Allegany at bay despite a late push.


Game 2 — Potomac State 9, Allegany 1

Potomac State carried its momentum into Game 2, delivering a complete performance in a 9–1 victory to secure the sweep.

The Catamounts jumped ahead early with a three-run first inning and continued to build their lead with a three-run second, showcasing aggressive baserunning and capitalizing on scoring opportunities.

Adison Pritts remained a catalyst offensively, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, two RBI, and two runs scored. Skyla Compton continued her standout day with a home run and two RBI, while Katelyn Cooper added two hits and two RBI to anchor the middle of the lineup.

On the basepaths, Maddie Fields created havoc with four stolen bases and two runs scored, helping fuel the Catamounts' early surge.

In the circle, Lacie Miller delivered a strong outing, allowing just one run over five innings while striking out four to secure the win.


Potomac State now turns its attention to the semifinal round, where the Catamounts will face CCBC Catonsville in a high-stakes rematch with a trip to the next round on the line. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. on Friday, May 8, in Keyser, with the remainder of the NJCAA Region 20 Tournament running through May 10.
