Rockville, MD — The WVU Potomac State College Catamounts opened their 2025 volleyball season with a hard-fought four-set loss to Harford Community College (15-25, 22-25, 25-20, 15-25) in the first match of Saturday's tri-match hosted at Montgomery College.
Despite a slow start, the Catamounts showed resilience in the third set, rallying behind standout performances from Elliana Mosby and Christianna Sledge. Mosby led the team with 10 kills and added 4 block solos and 2 block assists, while Sledge also contributed 10 kills.
Setter Victoria Lester anchored the offense with 28 assists and added a service ace and five digs. Sarah Iman chipped in with six kills and nine digs, while Alyssa Abel and Ashton Spiker added depth at the net.
After dropping the first two sets, WVU Potomac State surged in the third, capitalizing on Harford's errors and executing key blocks and kills to secure a 25-20 win. However, Harford responded in the fourth with a dominant performance, closing out the match behind Bryanna Carter's 12 kills and Neriya Kindred's 8 kills and 4 service aces.
The Catamounts (0-1) will look to bounce back in their second match of the day against Montgomery College at 3:00 PM.
