Potomac State Cross Country Braves the Snow at NJCAA DII National Championships

November 8, 2025

Fort Dodge, Ia. - In a day defined by grit, resilience, and snowy Midwest chaos, both the Potomac State men's and women's cross country teams battled through brutal conditions at the NJCAA Division II National Championship races on Saturday, November 8th, 2025. With heavy snowfall covering the course and the Catamounts competing in the fifth and sixth races of the day, footing was treacherous and temperatures unforgiving—yet both squads rose to the moment, marking a milestone day for the program.

MEN FIGHT THROUGH THE SNOW AND MUD IN 8K CHAMPIONSHIP

Racing on a course chewed up by hours of competition and fresh snow, the Potomac State men delivered a gutsy performance to finish 43rd out of 46 teams. Slips, slides, mud, and even a lost toenail couldn't hold back the Catamounts' determination.

Individual Results (8K):

  • LJ Sealey – 162nd (30:19.2)

  • William Boddy – 263rd (32:16.8)

  • Logan Hetrick – 287th (33:10.0)

  • Dylan Poston – 295th (33:31.9)

  • Sebastian Sharp – 310th (34:46.6)

  • Richard Hudson – 322nd (36:06.6)

  • Emmett Slayman – 339th (41:04.5)

The men refused to fold in the harshest conditions of the season, showcasing the toughness that defined their 2025 campaign.

WOMEN SHINE WITH TOP-25 TEAM FINISH AND THREE TOP-100 RUNNERS

Competing in the final race of the championship event, the women's team powered through worsening snow to finish 21st out of 44 teams, far surpassing their pre-meet national ranking of 33rd. Three Catamounts broke into the top 100, including a dramatic late push through the chute by Teagan Huff to secure her spot.

Individual Results (5K):

The women's finish marks a 12-spot improvement from their ranking entering the meet and punctuates a season filled with personal records, breakthroughs, and a Region 20 Championship sweep.

A SEASON TO REMEMBER

The 2025 cross country season will go down as one of the most successful in program history. With both teams competing at nationals, a dominant Region 20 performance, and continuous improvement week after week, the Catamounts built a foundation of momentum heading into the inaugural seasons of Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field in 2025–26, as well as next fall's cross country campaign.

Head Coach Chris Biser reflected proudly on the season's final chapter:

"What a season! I am so blessed to have such a great group of student-athletes. They poured their hearts out today in some of the worst running conditions."

Potomac State extends a heartfelt thank you to its athletes, supporters, families, and campus community for a memorable and record-setting year.

Onward to track season — and onward, Catamounts!
